﴿ وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ ﴾

“Now if thou pay heed unto the majority of those [who live] on earth, they will but lead thee astray from the path of God: they follow but [other people's] conjectures, and they themselves do nothing but guess.”

ولو فُرض -أيها الرسول- أنك أطعت أكثر أهل الأرض لأضلُّوك عن دين الله، ما يسيرون إلا على ما ظنوه حقًّا بتقليدهم أسلافهم، وما هم إلا يظنون ويكذبون.
