﴿ وَٱلَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنكُمْ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزْوَٰجًۭا يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍۢ وَعَشْرًۭا ۖ فَإِذَا بَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا فَعَلْنَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌۭ ﴾

“And if any of you die and leave wives behind, they shall undergo, without remarrying, a waiting-period of four months and ten days; whereupon, when they have reached the end of their waiting-term, there shall be no sin in whatever they may do with their persons in a lawful manner. And God is aware of all that you do.”

আর তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা স্ত্রী রেখে মারা যায় , তারা নিজেরা (স্ত্রীরা) চার মাস দশ দিন অপেক্ষায় থাকবে। অতঃপর যখন তারা তাদের ‘ইদ্দতকাল পূর্ণ করবে , তখন যথাবিধি নিজেদের জন্য যা করবে তাতে তোমাদের কোন পাপ নেই। আর তোমরা যা করো আল্লাহ্‌ সে সম্পর্কে সম্যক খবর রাখেন।
