﴿ وَقَالُوا۟ قُلُوبُنَا فِىٓ أَكِنَّةٍۢ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَآ إِلَيْهِ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِنَا وَقْرٌۭ وَمِنۢ بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٌۭ فَٱعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَٰمِلُونَ ﴾

“and so they say, [as it were:] “Our hearts are veiled from whatever thou callest us to, [O Muhammad,] and in our ears is deafness, and between us and thee is a barrier. Do, then, [whatever thou wilt, whereas,] behold, we shall do [as we have always done]!””

আর তারা বলে, 'তুমি যার প্রতি আমাদেরকে ডাকছ সে বিষয়ে আমাদের অন্তর আবরণ-আচ্ছাদিত, আমাদের কানে আছে বধিরতা এবং তোমার ও আমাদের মধ্যে আছে পর্দা; কাজেই তুমি তোমার কাজ কর, নিশ্চয় আমরা আমাদের কাজ করব।’
