﴿ فَلَوْلَا نَصَرَهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قُرْبَانًا ءَالِهَةًۢ ۖ بَلْ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنْهُمْ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ ﴾

“But, then, did those [beings] whom they had chosen to worship as deities beside God, hoping that they would bring them nearer [to Him], help them [in the end]? Nay, they forsook them: for that [alleged divinity] was but an outcome of their self-delusion and all their false imagery.”

অতঃপর তারা আল্লাহর সান্নিধ্য লাভের জন্য আল্লাহ্‌র পরিবর্তে যাদেরকে ইলাহরূপে গ্ৰহণ করেছিল তারা তাদেরকে সাহায্য করল না কেন? বরং তাদের ইলাহগুলো তাদের কাছ থেকে হারিয়ে গেল। আর এটা ছিল তাদের মিথ্যাচার ; এবং যা তারা অলীক উদ্ভাবন করছিল।
