﴿ وَلِلْمُطَلَّقَٰتِ مَتَٰعٌۢ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۖ حَقًّا عَلَى ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴾

“And the divorced women, too, shall have [a right to] maintenance in a goodly manner: this is a duty for all who are conscious of God.”

(For divorced women a provision in kindness) with generosity and kindness: (a duty for those who ward off (evil)). It is an obligation because it is in surplus to the dowry, and it is done out of generosity.
