﴿ قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلْقِىَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ ﴾

“Said [the sorcerers]: "O Moses! Either thou throw (thy staff first], or we shall be the first to throw."”

(They said) the magicians said to Moses: (O Moses! Either throw first) either you throw your staff to the ground first, (or let us be the first to throw?)
