﴿ وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِىٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ﴾

“But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him –”

(And never came there unto them) i.e. to these past nations (a Prophet but they used to mock him) i.e. they used to mock the Prophet.
