﴿ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَٰرِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَى ۙ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ وَأَمْلَىٰ لَهُمْ ﴾

“VERILY, those who turn their backs [on this mes­sage] after guidance has been vouchsafed to them, [do it because] Satan has embellished their fancies and filled them with false hopes:”

(Lo! those who turn back) to the religion of their forefathers, i.e. the Jews (after the guidance) Allah's divine Oneness, the Qur'an and the attributes and description of the Prophet (pbuh) in the Qur'an (hath been manifested unto them, Satan hath seduced them) into going back to the religion of their forefathers, (and He giveth them the rein) Allah gives them a reprieve, since He did not destroyed them immediately.
